A new 145 m² villa for twelve guests beside the national park — private sauna, outdoor jacuzzi and a double-height living room with a glazed gable and a real wood-burning fireplace.
A newly built villa in the warm forest of Äkäslompolo.
Villa Sweet Caroline is a newly built 145 m² wooden villa in Äkäslompolo, Ylläs, for up to twelve guests. The house combines Nordic design with the calm of the surrounding forest, and carries the PolarVillas signature: premium furnishings, professionally selected and rental-ready from the first night. The villa stands in a special spot: in a centuries-old forest, right by an entrance to Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park and a short distance from the Ylläs ski slopes.
The heart of the villa is the open living, dining and kitchen area under a double-height ceiling. A full-height glass gable brings in the forest and the winter light, and a real wood-burning fireplace in the living room makes it the natural place to gather after a day outside. Sculptural Secto Design lighting gives the space a warm glow on dark Lapland evenings, and a large OLED TV completes the living area.
The kitchen has a cooking island and a long dining table for the whole group, set with Iittala tableware and glassware, and is fully equipped for cooking together. Villa Sweet Caroline is our first villa in Ylläs and welcomes its first guests from 1 February 2027.
Space for a group of twelve, together and apart.
The villa has five bedrooms with hotel-quality bedding. Four have a double bed — two on the ground floor and two upstairs; the upstairs bedrooms share their own bathroom with shower and toilet, which works well for families or couples travelling together.
The fifth bedroom is a lockable room on the ground floor with a sofa bed. The open mezzanine overlooking the living room has a further sofa bed, so the house sleeps up to twelve in comfort.
The house has two rooms with a shower — the upstairs bathroom with toilet and washbasin, and a shower room beside the sauna on the ground floor — plus two separate toilets with washbasin downstairs, three toilets in all. The ground-floor shower room leads directly to the private sauna. From there, the back door takes you straight outside to the jacuzzi behind the house, so you can move between sauna and hot tub in a few steps. Surrounded by forest and away from the village lights, it is a wonderful place to look up at the stars and, on clear nights, the Northern Lights.
The warm forest by the national park
Villa Sweet Caroline stands in a beautiful old forest with centuries-old trees, close to the entrance of Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park. Locals call this area the "warm forest": sheltered among the trees, it is easily around 6°C warmer here than down by the lake. This draws reindeer all year round — in winter and summer alike — and means noticeably fewer mosquitoes in summer. A cross-country trail known as the "Warm Route" runs through it, and hiking and cycling trails into the national park start right by the house.
In winter, Ylläs offers Finland's largest ski area with 55 km of slopes, more than 300 km of groomed cross-country trails and 100 km of winter biking routes. Husky and reindeer safaris, snowmobiling and the Lapland Hotels SnowVillage are all within easy reach. With clear skies and little light pollution, the Northern Lights are often visible straight from the garden.
In summer, the midnight sun makes it possible to hike, cycle, paddle and fish around the clock. In autumn, the fells turn red and gold during ruska, the most colourful season in Lapland.
The village of Äkäslompolo, with shops and restaurants, is 2.4 km away and easy to reach on foot, by taxi or by ski bus. The nearby Kellokas Visitor Centre has exhibitions, a restaurant and a local fish shop.
